Leading a group of students to study abroad is an extemely rewarding experience for both students and faculty, and is an opportunity that allows students to spend time in a "classroom" like they've never seen before. The Office of Study abroad is here to help you develop, 设计, and execute high quality, academically relevant study abroad programs that will support the curricular goals of your academic colleges and departments.
教师-led study abroad / study away programs are for-credit courses that contain a short-term international component. The Office of 出国留学 is always looking for new faculty with innovative program ideas. These programs allow students to truly interact with the course topic, develop international experience, and provide faculty leaders with the opportunity to internationalize their curriculum, and potentially develop new course offerings or conduct research abroad.
通常, these programs are offered over Spring Break or during the summer, for varying lengths of time. There are multiple program models as well; for example, the overseas component could be embedded in a larger course context, or the entire course could be taught abroad / away.
教师 interested in developing faculty-led study abroad / study away programs should consult the Office of 出国留学, which provides adminstrative support for the participating faculty and students. 教师 with new program ideas should submit program proposals, with the appropriate academic approval, to the Office of 出国留学. The deadline for program proposals is 6月1日 of the academic year prior to the program. Proposals are then evaluated by a committee to determine which programs the Office of 出国留学 can support the following academic year.
Following approval, the Office of 出国留学 will work with the faculty to develop and maintain a program budget, secure airfare for the group, develop the program logistics, 招生, advise students on study abroad / study away and financial aid concerns, collect student applications and payments, 注册学生, and collect evaluations. 教师 are charged with the academic components of the course, and with assisting the Office of 出国留学 in program development.
